<p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p><p>Our client, a highly regarded private credit firm with a strong institutional reputation, is seeking a Head of Credit Underwriting to lead and scale its underwriting function. Operating at the intersection of private credit and technology, the firm combines rigorous credit fundamentals with data-driven tools and streamlined execution.</p><p>This is a senior leadership role with significant influence over credit strategy, portfolio construction, risk governance, and the evolution of underwriting processes as the platform continues to grow.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Own and lead the end-to-end credit underwriting function across the firm’s private credit strategies</li><li>Set underwriting standards, credit policies, and risk frameworks aligned with the firm’s investment mandate and return objectives</li><li>Chair or play a central role in the credit committee, providing clear recommendations on deal approvals, structuring, and risk mitigation</li><li>Oversee underwriting of new investments, including financial analysis, due diligence, stress testing, and scenario analysis</li><li>Partner closely with Investment, Portfolio Management, Risk, and Technology teams to ensure efficient deal execution and ongoing portfolio monitoring</li><li>Drive continuous improvement of underwriting processes, incorporating technology, data, and automation where appropriate</li><li>Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of underwriters, fostering a high-performance and accountability-driven culture</li><li>Monitor portfolio performance and emerging risks, proactively recommending actions to protect downside and optimize returns</li><li>Act as a senior representative of the firm with internal stakeholders, investors, and external partners as needed</li></ul><p><strong>Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>5+ years experience in credit underwriting within private credit, private debt, direct lending, or structured credit</li><li>Proven track record of underwriting and approving complex transactions across the capital structure</li><li>Strong leadership experience, including building and managing underwriting or credit teams</li><li>Deep understanding of credit risk, structuring, covenants, and downside protection</li><li>Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, technology-enabled environment with evolving processes</li><li>Commercial mindset with the ability to balance risk discipline and growth objectives</li><li>Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFA a plus</li></ul><p></p>
